Tallinn - Estonia

Tallinn is the capital and largest city of Estonia. It lies on the northern coast of Estonia, along the Gulf of Finland. The historic center (Old Town) of Tallinn is one of the most completely preserved medieval city centres in Europe, with a net of winding cobblestone streets and houses, from the 11th to 15th centuries, well renovated in original form. The Old Town of Tallinn is in the UNESCO's World Heritage List. Tallinn is also a European capital of culture for 2011 (http://www.tallinn2011.ee/eng). The population is around 400 000.

In Tallinn Old Town, the past has been preserved through architecture and tradition. This is complemented by the modern city, with trendy cafés and shops giving it a cosmopolitan atmosphere, not mentioning the most recent high-tech conveniences always at hand. Tallinn combines the old and the new … Medieval and Modern … this creates a unique atmosphere.
