Dear colleagues,

The 15th International Workshop on Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships in Environmental and Health Sciences was held in Tallinn (Estonia) on June 18-22, 2012 (Venue: Sokos Hotel Viru Conference Centre).

The five days in Tallinn gave us lively discussions, exchange of experience and information on novel and emerging research results in the field of QSAR-s. Workshop delivered: 52 plenary talks and oral presentations; 82 poster presentations.

From participants 15% were students and 85% others. According to the type of organization the proportions of participants were following: 62% not-for profit organizations (universities and research institutes); 11% governmental institutions (regulatory agencies, etc); and 27% from profit organizations (chemical companies, software providers, etc). Participants came from 22 countries.

International QSAR Award 2012 was presented to Prof. Dr. Terry Wayne Schultz (University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine, Knoxville), in recognition of his outstanding and significant contributions to the advancement of quantitative structure-activity relationships in environmental sciences.

Award for best student oral presentation was given to Denitsa Georgieva (University "Prof. As. Zlatarov", Bourgas, Bulgaria), in recognition for outstanding presentation: Prioritization of chemicals according to their PBT profile.

Award for best student poster presentation was given to Danielle Newby (Universities of Kent and Greenwich, Kent, UK), in recognition for outstanding presentation: Reducing False Positives in Oral Absorption Models.

Now, open your calendar, book the dates … June 16-20, 2014 … 16th International Workshop on QSAR in Environmental and Health Sciences will take place in Milan, Italy and is organized by Dr. Emilio Benfenati (from Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research).
